Grumpee Token
Cryptocurrency has come quite far in 10 years. From software being developed through emails to appearing on the hourly news cycle, Bitcoin, along with Cryptocurrency as a whole, has brought many of us together in unique and unconventional ways. It has also managed to find solutions to some of the world’s most unique and peculiar problems. Interestingly enough, there is a large bridge still to be built in one particular sector the industry hasn’t grappled with yet; Philanthropy. However, one new token called Grumpee is starting to build it.
Grumpee (Contract Address: 0xdad57280919b81268e13591462fa80ef7d92b10c) is an ERC20 token whose sole utility is philanthropy. Quite simply, every GRUMPEE transaction that takes place has a 0.3% tax which is sent to a wallet that allegedly donates to children’s cancer research and other causes. In addition, 1% of every transaction is also sent to holders of the token.
Started by so called “volunteers", the token seems to be completely driven by the developers with input and help from the community, as seen by activity in their Telegram channel. If Grumpee is capable of bringing value to philanthropic efforts and causes, it can have an impact.
Meme stocks and cryptocurrencies are the rage in the retail investor driven rallies we’ve seen in the last few months. The rise of Doge Coin, Gamestop, Nikola, and other entities with bleak futures are evidence that although an unconventional investment strategy, meme markets can generate liquidity and immense speculatory value. What better than taking some of that and helping children.
It will be interesting to see what happens with Grumpee and how long it’s participants endure. I will be pulling for it to succeed so a small portion of the cryptocurrency market can go to a cause bigger than all of us. With children and infants suffering from debilitating cancers of different variety, the time to help is now.
